Spain Fines 32 Online Gambling Operators €33.5 Million, Blocks Six Illegal Sites

The latest penalties signal a stricter enforcement drive against online gambling in Spain.

  • Twenty-six licensed operators received grave penalties totaling about €3.5 million for breaches tied to technical standards and player‑protection obligations under Article 40 of the 2011 law.
  • Named fines include 888 Online (€250,000) and Beatya Online (€300,000) for technical noncompliance, Betfair (€100,000) for failures in responsible gaming, Electraworks Ceuta (€512,000) for three violations, and Codere (€17,500) for software issues.
  • Including this action, authorities have issued 58 grave or very grave sanctions in 2025 totaling nearly €111 million, with 212 sanctions worth €496 million published since a 2021 rule began requiring disclosure of final penalties.
