Overview
- Since July 1 the Dirección General de Tráfico has begun installing the S-43 informational sign on national roads to reserve distinct lanes for personal mobility vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians
- The square blue panel features icons of an electric scooter, a bicycle and a pedestrian to clearly mark each user’s designated space
- Noncompliance with the S-43 sign is classified as a serious infraction subject to fines of up to €200 without loss of points
- The DGT requires that S-43 signage be included in all new road projects that meet prescribed conditions as part of a phased, nationwide rollout
- Officials say the initiative will improve urban circulation and support long-term planning of sustainable transport networks
