Spain Expands Game-Based Finance Lessons With FINEXIT Relaunch and New Youth Escape Room

Organizers say practical escape-room formats will help close gaps in teens’ financial literacy identified by PISA.

Overview

  • On Financial Education Day, the EU‑co‑financed third edition of FINEXIT opened at IES Urbano Lugrís in A Coruña, led by the local and national chambers of commerce with Fundación MAPFRE.
  • The 2025–2026 tour is scheduled to visit 150 vocational training centers in 110 cities, targeting nearly 8,000 students.
  • FINEXIT’s narrative places students on a spaceship rescue mission that requires applying concepts such as IBAN, ROI, SWOT analysis, balance sheets, contracts and insurance under time pressure.
  • The previous edition reached 119 FP centers across 15 regions and involved more than 6,300 students, setting the baseline for this year’s expansion.
  • Separately, Fundació Caixa Ontinyent introduced “l’última moneda” for 14–15‑year‑olds within a program that has reached over 200,000 people since 2018 and includes teacher training, classroom sessions, competitions and puppet theatre.
