Overview
- The Inclusion Ministry and the Spanish Observatory on Racism and Xenophobia have formed a standing committee with Meta, X, Google and TikTok to coordinate content moderation efforts.
- First meetings are scheduled after the summer recess to review OBERAXE analyses and FARO monitoring data on hate speech prevalence and removal.
- OBERAXE documented 138,204 xenophobic posts linked to Torre Pacheco violence from July 6–22, of which only 22% were removed.
- Platforms removed 35% of nearly 2,870 reported racist and xenophobic posts in 2024 (down 14 points) and 33% of over half a million cases detected in H1 2025.
- The working group will explore strengthened moderation tools and potential sanctions to compel faster, more effective takedowns and reduce the social impact of prolonged hate content.
