Overview
- The Labour Ministry proposes a new 15 working days of paid leave to accompany a relative in palliative care, usable whether care is provided at home or in hospital.
- Workers could split the palliative-care leave into two periods within three months, counted from the first day of use until the patient’s death.
- Eligibility would cover salaried employees caring for relatives up to the second degree of consanguinity, with the leave request limited to once per relative.
- The new entitlement would be compatible with the existing five-day hospitalization leave, which could be taken in addition to the 15 days.
- The package also expands bereavement to 10 working days for relatives up to the second degree with use allowed continuously or discontinuously within four weeks, while in-laws remain at two to four days depending on travel.
