Spain Creates Executive Sports Committee as COE Unveils Modernization Blueprint

  • The new Comité Ejecutivo del Deporte Español will unite the CSD, COE and CPE to coordinate national sports policy.
  • The body will operate within the CSD structure with a mandate to organize, align and execute policies for federations and athletes.
  • The COE presented its Modelo del Deporte, an approximately 800‑page analysis produced by 10 jurists that sets six strategic axes and 62 proposals.
  • Highlighted proposals include tailored tax treatment for professional athletes, incentives for private sponsorship, efforts to attract major events and stronger promotion of disability and women’s sport.
  • At the COE event attended by Sánchez, Alejandro Blanco, Minister Pilar Alegría, CSD chief José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes and CPE director Francisco Botía, Sánchez also cited €1 billion more invested in sport over the past seven years compared with the previous government.
