Overview

  • Hundreds of residents were evacuated from Carucedo, Orellán, Las Médulas and nearby villages as multiple wildfires continued to burn across León and Ourense provinces.
  • Regional officials say preliminary findings point to deliberate ignition in up to ten of the thirteen fires in León, and Seprona agents have launched formal arson investigations.
  • The national Unidad Militar de Emergencias (UME) has been deployed under IGR-2 alerts while Galicia blazes have been contained and the Valencian Generalitat activated extreme pre-emergency measures including water-cannon deployments.
  • In Mexico City, SGIRPC maintained high-level Alerta Roja and Púrpura warnings after weekend storms that flooded streets, toppled trees, inundated parts of two hospitals and forced partial suspension of Metro Line 2 and Cablebús services.
  • The Servicio Meteorológico Nacional forecast renewed heavy rains and coastal waves of 1.5–2.5 meters for seven Pacific states on August 11 and urged residents and maritime operations to heed civil protection advice.
