Spain Arrests Suspect in Fatal Speedboat Crash Involving Police

A 32-year-old man has been detained in connection with the February collision that killed two officers during an anti-drug patrol in Barbate.

Spanish authorities have arrested a suspect involved in the February speedboat crash that resulted in the deaths of two police officers.
The incident occurred on February 9 when a speedboat, believed to be operated by drug smugglers, collided with a Civil Guard patrol boat in the southern port of Barbate.
Video footage captured the moment the speedboat slammed into the police craft.
Three additional suspects, who are believed to have fled Spain shortly after the incident, are now the subjects of international arrest warrants.
Two other members of the six-person police crew were injured in the crash, highlighting the dangers faced by law enforcement in Spain's drug smuggling hotspots near the Strait of Gibraltar.
