Spain and Mexico Announce 25N Programs Focused on Exploitation, Digital Abuse and Support Services

New initiatives couple public programming with tangible responses such as safe service spaces or a regional protocol.

Overview

  • Vigo set a Nov. 12–28 schedule themed for a third year on denouncing the exploitation of women's bodies, with Nov. 17–18 trainings on cosification and the mercantilization of the female body.
  • Carmela Silva underscored the program’s focus by noting that 92% of prostituted women are not European, linking prostitution to poverty among affected women.
  • Durango unveiled a Nov. 17–29 lineup featuring talks on cyberviolence, cultural events, a Nov. 25 memorial and mobilization, and the presentation of Durangaldea’s second interinstitutional protocol against violence toward women.
  • Asturias’ feminist movement called a Nov. 25 demonstration in Avilés under the slogan “El machismo nos cuesta la vida,” citing 36 femicides in Spain so far this year, with the Menina 2025 awards set for Nov. 27.
  • Michoacán’s Seimujer will launch the “No le debo sexo a nadie” campaign on Nov. 25 and inaugurate Espazios LIBRE, with additional Centres LIBRE opening to provide integrated legal and psychological support.
