SpaceX Will Be Tradable in Mexico Through the BMV’s SIC on September 14

The Bolsa Mexicana de Valores says the move will let Mexican investors buy existing Nasdaq shares in pesos via CNBV‑regulated brokerages with local custody and preferential tax treatment.

Overview

  • The BMV announced on Thursday that SpaceX (ticker SPCX) will be added to its Sistema Internacional de Cotizaciones on September 14, allowing domestic investors to trade the company’s Nasdaq shares locally.
  • The SIC inclusion follows Mexican rules that require at least three months of trading in the issuer’s home market and does not create a new Mexican public offering or raise additional capital for SpaceX.
  • Transactions must be executed by casas de bolsa or credit institutions regulated by the CNBV and use Indeval for custody, clearing and settlement of the foreign securities.
  • Mexican investors will trade in pesos, keep the same corporate rights as other holders, and may benefit from a preferential 10% capital gains tax rate, but prices will mirror international supply and demand.
  • SpaceX’s U.S. debut on June 12 raised about $85.7 billion and has since seen wide price swings and large lockup expiries, while the company’s growth story now increasingly includes Starlink, data centers and AI services.
