SpaceX Targets Wednesday Vandenberg Launch of 24 Starlink Satellites

The mission advances the near-polar Group 17 buildout using a veteran booster slated for a droneship landing.

Overview

  • Liftoff is targeted for 8:43 a.m. PDT on Sept. 17 from Space Launch Complex 4E at Vandenberg, with a four-hour window opening at 8:41 a.m.
  • Falcon 9 first stage B1088 will fly for the 10th time and attempt a landing on the droneship Of Course I Still Love You about 8.5 minutes after launch.
  • The 24 Starlink V2 Mini satellites are destined for the Group 17 shell, a roughly 97-degree inclination orbit that expands polar coverage.
  • SpaceX plans to stream the launch on X and company channels beginning about five minutes before liftoff.
  • The flight anchors a busy slate that also features additional Starlink missions from Florida and an NRO Starshield launch from Vandenberg later in the week.
