Overview

  • Starbase was officially incorporated earlier this month as a type-C municipal corporation governed by current and former SpaceX staff.
  • The draft ordinance designates most property as a mixed-use district permitting residential, office, retail and small-scale service uses.
  • Some property owners received notices warning they may lose the right to continue using their land under the proposed zoning map.
  • The city commission will host its first public hearing on June 23 at its temporary city hall in Brownsville to take comments and potentially adopt the ordinance.
  • SpaceX has FAA approval to boost Starship launches from five to 25 per year, intensifying environmental and community impact concerns in the 500-resident town.
