SpaceX Dragon Undocks From ISS to Return Crew 10 to Earth

Logging five months of microgravity experiments, Crew 10 is heading toward a splashdown off the California coast

Overview

  • The Crew 10 Dragon capsule departed the International Space Station at 00:15 MESZ on August 9 after nearly five months in orbit.
  • Astronauts Anne McClain, Nichole Ayers, Takuya Onishi and Kirill Peskow will spend over 17 hours in transit before splashing down at 17:33 local time.
  • During their mission, Crew 10 conducted key experiments on plant growth and cellular responses to microgravity.
  • Crew 11 arrived earlier this week to relieve Crew 10 and has already begun simulating lunar landing scenarios aboard the station.
  • NASA has depended solely on SpaceX’s Crew Dragon for ISS crew rotations and rescue since Boeing Starliner’s technical setbacks in mid-2024.
