Overview

  • During NASA’s CRS-32 mission, the Dragon capsule delivered approximately 6,700 pounds of scientific experiments, equipment and crew supplies to the International Space Station.
  • The capsule undocked from the ISS on May 23 and re-entered Earth’s atmosphere on May 25, splashing down near Oceanside around 10:44 p.m. PT.
  • SpaceX issued re-entry alerts on its X account ahead of the splashdown to warn residents of the expected sonic boom.
  • In 2025, SpaceX shifted all Dragon splashdowns to Pacific Ocean zones to mitigate risks posed by the spacecraft’s trunk section during re-entry.
  • Residents near Vandenberg Space Force Base have voiced growing concern over frequent sonic booms as SpaceX plans more than 90 launches from the site by 2026.
