SpaceX and ULA Set Pre-Dawn Cape Canaveral Launches to Grow Starlink and Kuiper

A 90% favorable forecast has both missions on track for back-to-back morning launches from neighboring pads.

Overview

  • SpaceX targets a 4:36–4:39 a.m. EDT liftoff from SLC-40 carrying 28 Starlink V2 Mini satellites on a Falcon 9.
  • The Falcon 9 first stage is booster B1080 on its 22nd flight, aiming to land on the droneship A Shortfall of Gravitas; if successful, it would mark the ship’s 126th recovery and SpaceX’s 511th booster landing.
  • United Launch Alliance plans an 8:09 a.m. EDT Atlas V launch from LC-41 with 27 satellites for Amazon’s Project Kuiper.
  • After deployment, Project Kuiper’s on-orbit total would reach 129 satellites, while Starlink already fields roughly 8,400-plus functioning spacecraft, according to Jonathan McDowell.
  • SpaceX also plans a separate Starlink mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base Thursday evening carrying 24 satellites.
