Space Force Awards Slingshot $27 Million to Field AI Adversary for Orbital Training

The deal advances an adaptive red-cell capability into OTTI’s unified training environment.

Overview

  • The 18-month agreement was issued through a Commercial Solutions Opening to accelerate integration of commercial technology.
  • TALOS is designed to act as a dynamic virtual opponent that maneuvers and reacts in space exercises without relying on fixed scripts.
  • Slingshot and subcontractors will also provide Blue and White cell tools within a consolidated, classified training and assessment environment.
  • The company says TALOS is trained on extensive real-world orbital observations, including a claimed ability to track roughly 95% of payload-sized objects.
  • The award builds on prior SBIR funding and a 2022 Strategic Funding Increase that enabled testing, and the system has been used in exercises by the 57th Space Aggressors Squadron.
