Overview
- Space Systems Command selected Blue Origin under an NSSL Space Vehicle Processing CSO to construct the facility on Cape Canaveral Space Force Station property.
- The site is designed for up to 16 missions per year, with the Space Force anticipating capacity for an additional seven to eight NSSL missions.
- Planned capabilities include satellite fueling, battery charging, loading of gaseous and fluid commodities, and payload encapsulation in a clean, secure high-bay environment.
- The facility will be available to multiple launch providers and customers, with USSF expecting to extend existing coordination agreements with the NRO and NASA and Blue Origin able to schedule commercial use.
- This is the second CSO award in the effort to expand processing capacity, following an Astrotech contract at Vandenberg; the solicitation drew 12 proposals, with future needs tied to FY2026 appropriations.
