Space Force Awards $1.14 Billion in First Phase 3 Lane 2 Launches to SpaceX, ULA

Blue Origin remains sidelined pending New Glenn certification.

Overview

  • SpaceX received five missions worth $714 million and ULA received two worth $428 million under firm-fixed-price task orders.
  • The assignments cover high-assurance payloads including WGS-12 (USSF-206), GPS IIIF-4 (USSF-88), and two NRO missions (NROL-86 and NROL-88), plus three classified Space Force launches.
  • These Lane 2 missions will fly no earlier than fiscal 2027 due to the Space Force’s two-year advance scheduling practice.
  • The orders are the first operational taskings under NSSL Phase 3 Lane 2, which governs the most demanding national security launches.
  • The broader Lane 2 plan anticipates about 54 missions valued at roughly $13.7 billion, with additional lower-complexity launches competed separately in Lane 1.
