Space Force Awards $1.14 Billion in First Phase 3 Lane 2 Launches to SpaceX and ULA

Provider certification status dictated these first Phase 3 Lane 2 assignments under the high-assurance program.

Overview

  • The Space Force funded seven FY-26 Lane 2 missions for a total of $1.14 billion, assigning five launches to SpaceX for $714 million and two to United Launch Alliance for $428 million, with flights planned no earlier than fiscal 2027.
  • SpaceX is tasked to launch USSF-206/WGS-12, USSF-155, NROL-86, USSF-149, and USSF-63 under the new task order.
  • ULA will fly NROL-88 and USSF-88/GPS IIIF-4 as part of the same assignment.
  • USSF-206 will deliver the twelfth Wideband Global SATCOM satellite, and USSF-88 will carry the fourth GPS III Follow-on spacecraft with stronger encryption.
  • Blue Origin received no FY-26 Lane 2 missions because New Glenn has not completed the second flight required for Space Force certification, and the two NROL missions will carry classified payloads in partnership with the National Reconnaissance Office.
