Southwest Monsoon Begins Withdrawal from Northwest India

Heavy rainfall continues in several regions as monsoon starts retreating from Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed the monsoon's withdrawal from parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, and Haryana starting Monday.
Despite the retreat, heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, and several other regions over the next few days.
This year's monsoon has delivered 5.5% above-average rainfall, aiding water reservoirs but potentially damaging crops ready for harvest.
A low-pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal is forecasted to bring more rain to southern peninsular regions.
The delayed monsoon withdrawal could impact the sowing of rabi crops and pose risks to inflation due to potential crop damage.
