Overview
- The India Meteorological Department forecasts the southwest monsoon will advance into Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Odisha within 48 hours and into parts of Gujarat, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar by June 17.
- Central and eastern regions, including Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Odisha, can expect light to moderate rain with thunderstorms, while Konkan and Goa face very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall through June 16.
- South Bengal districts such as South 24-Parganas and Midnapore may see monsoon onset from June 16, with heavy showers and gusts up to 50 km/h spreading through coastal areas.
