Overview
- Three seat categories will be offered at booking: Standard seats in the rear of the cabin, Preferred seats near the front and Extra Legroom seats with up to five additional inches of space and priority bin access.
- Passengers opting for the entry-level Standard seat will be assigned a seat upon check-in, while Preferred and Extra Legroom options allow selection at the time of booking.
- The carrier is replacing its A/B/C boarding groups with numbered Groups 1 through 8 and removing gate-area stanchions to streamline the embarkation process.
- Rapid Rewards A-List and A-List Preferred members and holders of co-branded Southwest credit cards receive guaranteed seat choice and early boarding group assignment regardless of fare.
- All flights scheduled through December 31, 2025 will continue under open seating with the existing A/B/C boarding structure.
