Southport Rioter in Viral Brick Video Sentenced to Prison

Brian Spencer received a 2.5-year sentence for violent disorder and racial harassment during July riots sparked by misinformation after a fatal stabbing.

Brian Spencer, 40, was jailed for two years and six months after pleading guilty to violent disorder during the Southport riots on July 30.
The riots erupted the day after a mass stabbing in Southport killed three young girls, with misinformation fueling far-right anger and violence.
Spencer was featured in a viral video where he was struck by bricks in the head and groin while taunting riot police and throwing projectiles.
He was also convicted of racially aggravated harassment for verbally abusing a hospital patient while receiving treatment for his riot-related injuries.
Merseyside Police have arrested 163 individuals in connection with the riots, with 88 sentenced to a combined total of over 182 years in prison.
