Overview
- Daytime highs near 90°F and heat-index values around 100°F have put much of Southeast Michigan under a heat advisory and prompted early school dismissals and some event cancellations.
- Showers and isolated storms may arrive overnight into Wednesday morning between roughly 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., with a low chance of stronger wind gusts or an isolated severe cell.
- Most of the region is in a Slight (Level 2 of 5) severe-weather risk for Wednesday, with the main threat window from afternoon into evening and primary hazards of damaging wind gusts, hail, and localized flash flooding.
- A separate round of scattered storms is expected Thursday into Friday as a cold front moves through, and that front should bring noticeably cooler, less humid air by the weekend.
- Separately on the Gulf Coast, Tropical Storm Edouard made landfall near Johnson Bayou, Louisiana, producing heavy rain and flood watches for parts of southeastern Texas and southwestern Louisiana.
