Overview

• Work will begin on Monday, August 11, 2025, and run for six months without any full-bridge vehicle closures
• The project scope covers drainage upgrades, joint repairs, waterproofing and resurfacing of both the highway and footpaths
• Traffic management includes a 20 mph speed limit, weekday off-peak lights from 9:30 am to 3 pm and overnight closures from 8 pm to 6 am with one footway kept open
• The bridge will remain accessible during peak travel times and stay open until 11 pm on weeknight St Mary’s Stadium match days
• Funding slipped from the 2024/25 financial year due to coordination with other Itchen crossings and safety barriers are slated for installation in 2026
