Overview
- SWR reported its highest-ever originating freight for July, handling 4.69 million tonnes, an 11.7% rise from July 2025 and the strongest April–July cumulative loading (17.19 MT) since the zone began.
- Iron ore led the monthly gain at 1.97 MT, up 22.4% year-on-year, while steel loading rose 20.6% to 1.05 MT and containers reached 0.88 MT.
- Freight revenue and total earnings improved in July, with gross revenue of ₹793.31 crore and freight receipts of ₹449.27 crore, both above July 2025 levels.
- Passenger receipts also rose, with July passenger earnings of ₹303.54 crore and 14.76 million passengers carried, and enforcement and ancillary services contributed additional income from ticket-checking and parcel sales.
- The results reflect stronger demand from mining and steel customers in the SWR zone and suggest tighter industrial offtake could sustain higher freight volumes and zone revenues in the near term.
