Overview
- An amber Met Office warning remains in force for south and southwest Wales until 9pm Monday, with 50–80mm of rain widely and around 100mm in places and a risk to life from fast‑flowing or deep floodwater.
- The Environment Agency reports around 81 flood alerts and seven flood warnings in England, while Natural Resources Wales has issued targeted warnings including for the Clydach Bridge area as rivers continue to rise.
- Yellow rain warnings cover large areas of north‑east, north‑west and south‑west England, the Midlands and parts of Wales, with likely impacts including flooded properties, communities cut off, disrupted travel and possible power loss.
- Officials urge people not to drive through floodwater, noting that 30cm of moving water can float a car, and the Met Office advises preparing a flood kit with key documents, torches and batteries, medicines, warm clothing, food and water.
- A further yellow warning has been issued for Wednesday, with 15–25mm of rain expected widely and 40–60mm over higher ground in south Wales and the southwest, following a brief easing for many on Tuesday.
