South Philly Double Shooting Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Critically Wounded Near Broad and Packer

  • Officers responded around 6:10 p.m. Thursday to reports of gunfire at Broad Street and Packer Avenue.
  • An Audi sedan was found on Broad with more than 15 bullet holes, and police believe the victims were inside the car when shot.
  • A 22-year-old with multiple gunshot wounds was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and pronounced dead, while a 23-year-old with torso wounds was taken to Penn Presbyterian and remains in critical condition.
  • Spent shell casings and a discarded magazine were recovered on the 1300 block of Packer Avenue, with additional casings on Broad just north of the intersection.
  • The Audi collided with another vehicle whose driver was uninjured, and detectives have secured the scene with no arrests announced as they seek tips to identify the shooter or shooters.
