South Mumbai Faces 24-Hour Water Cut After 600 mm Main Bursts Near Mantralaya

  • The leak was reported around 11:30 am on Madam Cama Road opposite Mantralaya, where a 600 mm water main failed and damaged roughly 40 metres of roadway.
  • BMC announced a 24-hour shutdown for parts of south Mumbai, with phased restoration planned for Cuffe Parade, G.D. Somani Road, Colaba Koliwada and Geeta Nagar.
  • Water Works teams were deployed for emergency repairs, and Assistant Engineer Ankita Dhopate said restoration efforts are in progress.
  • BEST suspended services on the Backbay Depot section and diverted multiple routes, including 121, 138, 5, 8, 15, 82, 87, 89 and 126.
  • Barricades and traffic controls were put in place as authorities secured the weakened stretch and coordinated ongoing repairs.
