South Korean Footballer Ui-jo Hwang Faces Four-Year Prison Sentence

Hwang admitted to filming sexual encounters without consent, after initially denying the charges in a Seoul court.

Prosecutors in Seoul are seeking a four-year prison term for Ui-jo Hwang, a striker for Turkey's Alanyaspor.
Hwang confessed to the charges during the final hearing, having initially pleaded not guilty.
The case came to light in June 2023 when Hwang's sister-in-law attempted to blackmail him by releasing private videos.
Hwang previously played for Nottingham Forest in England and has been suspended from the South Korean national team since November 2023.
The court is expected to deliver its verdict on December 18.
