South Korean Family Still Missing After Grand Canyon Trip During Winter Storm

Jiyeon Lee, Taehee Kim, and Junghee Kim vanished on March 13, with their last GPS location recorded near a deadly 22-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 in Arizona.

The family, traveling in a rented 2024 BMW, was last tracked heading westbound on Interstate 40 at 3:27 p.m. on March 13, 2025.
A severe winter storm caused hazardous road conditions on the same day, contributing to a massive 22-vehicle accident that killed two people and injured 16 others.
Authorities have not determined if the family's vehicle was involved in the crash, as some cars in the pileup were destroyed by a fire that burned for over 20 hours.
Search efforts, including air, foot, and vehicle sweeps, as well as hospital checks, have found no trace of the family or their car.
The South Korean consulate is assisting in the investigation after the family missed their scheduled flight out of San Francisco on March 17.
