• The Korean Film Council confirmed on Sept. 3 that No Other Choice will represent the country in the Best International Feature category at the 98th Academy Awards.
• The selection committee cited cinematic completeness, timely themes and standout ensemble work, with members including Kwak Sin-ae, Lee Dong-ha, Shin Su-won and Jang Hye-jin.
• Park Chan-wook’s film premiered in competition at the Venice Film Festival to strong reviews and is competing for the Golden Lion.
• CJ ENM will release the film in South Korean theaters on Sept. 24 to satisfy Academy eligibility, with an opening-night slot at the Busan International Film Festival later in September.
• Neon holds North American rights and Mubi has several other territories, while the CJ ENM–backed adaptation of Donald E. Westlake’s The Ax stars Lee Byung-hun alongside Son Ye-jin and Park Hee-soon.
