  • May births rose 3.8% to 20,309, marking the steepest on-year increase for the month since 2011
  • January–May births reached 106,048, a 6.9% rise and the highest five-month growth since records began in 1981
  • Marriages climbed 4% in May to 21,761, the largest figure for the month since 2019 and the 14th straight month of growth
  • The total fertility rate in May edged up by 0.02 to 0.75, remaining well below the 2.1 needed for population replacement
  • Deaths in May totaled 28,510, resulting in a natural population decline of 8,202 despite pro-natal measures
