Overview
- At the Global Infrastructure Cooperation Conference in Seoul, Minister Kim Yoon-duk said Korea stands ready to handle design, construction, operation and maintenance for the two new lines.
- Peru’s transport ministry reported in August that it has funding to launch the first phase of the project.
- The urban transport authority estimates construction could start in 2027 with service beginning around 2032, subject to studies and contracting.
- South Korea is also collaborating on the feasibility study for the Chinchero–Cusco rail link and is among eight countries that submitted technical proposals for the Lima–Ica railway.
- Lines 3 and 4 are planned as fully underground routes connecting 26 districts across Lima and Callao.
