South Korea Monsoon Death Toll Reaches 23, Recovery Work Over Halfway

Overview

  • Authorities recovered four bodies in Sancheong and Gapyeong, lowering the missing count to five.
  • Regional toll stands at 13 deaths in South Gyeongsang, six in Gyeonggi, three in South Chungcheong and one in Gwangju.
  • A total of 15,649 people evacuated, with 2,243 still in temporary shelters.
  • Emergency restoration work has been completed on 50.7% of the 12,791 damaged public and private facilities.
  • A heat wave following the floods has hospitalized 136 people and killed 24,467 livestock, including 2,388 pigs.
