• Culture Ministry events began Thursday and run nationwide through October to extend Hangeul Day observances.
• Culture Minister Chae Hwi-young and members of the Korean Language Society laid flowers at the King Sejong statue in Gwanghwamun, followed by a ceremony honoring contributions to the language.
• Seoul’s citizen program at Gwanghwamun Square runs 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. under the theme “Hangeul, Connecting the World,” featuring quizzes, calligraphy, name-writing and bracelet-making for all ages.
• The Hangeul Hanmadang headline event is set for Saturday at Gwanghwamun with performances by pansori singer Yoo Taepyeongyang and designer Lee Sang-bong’s Hangeul-inspired fashion show, alongside awards for clear public language.
• Further highlights include the Cultural Industry Exhibition from Saturday to Tuesday showcasing about 70 government-supported products, the AI Film Festival Jeongeum 1446, and the Oct. 18 Hangeul Dictation Contest at Gyeongbokgung Palace with 150 participants including 30 standout foreign learners from Sejong Institutes.
