Authorities have set the local terror alert to “Alert” for Oct. 28 to Nov. 1.

  • Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Jin Yong-sung inspected readiness, flew a P-8 patrol over the east coast and reviewed operations at the Hwabaek Convention Center as the military readies about 3,600 troops.
  • Police ran large-scale drills in Gyeongju, including motorcade exercises, special forces, drones and detection dogs, while the coast guard conducted underwater searches at Bomun Lake and tightened patrols near Pohang.
  • Up to 18,500 police will be deployed daily with anti-drone jammers, armored vehicles and helicopters under a Presidential Security Service–led operation involving intelligence, military, coast guard and fire agencies.

  • Organizers are supplementing limited lodging with cruise ships in Pohang and readying visitor services in Gyeongju, as rallies are capped near the venue this week and barred inside the Bomun complex from Saturday.
