Overview
- The Korea Meteorological Administration expects rain to spread nationwide from Friday night through Saturday, with the most intense period early Saturday morning.
- Most areas are forecast to receive 10 to 60 millimeters of rain, with localized downpours of 20 to 30 mm per hour and up to 30 to 50 mm per hour in South Chungcheong and western North Jeolla.
- Three systems—Typhoons Mitag, Ragasa and Neoguri—have formed in the Northwest Pacific, and although none is currently projected to strike Korea, their paths could change with shifts in the North Pacific high.
- Ragasa has strengthened to Category 3 and could affect areas from northern Philippines to southern Taiwan and China, including Hong Kong, with only a small chance of turning toward Korea according to the KMA.
- Mitag is weakening on a path toward Hong Kong, Neoguri is tracking toward Japan’s east coast before moving out to sea, rain may linger on Gangwon’s east coast until Sunday morning, and cooler, dry conditions are expected next week with highs near 26 to 27 degrees Celsius.
