Overview

  • The International Remote Baggage Screening system went live on Aug. 13 for daily Incheon–Atlanta flights, transmitting checked-bag X-ray images from ICN to TSA and CBP for prearrival review.
  • Passengers with cleared baggage no longer need to reclaim and recheck luggage at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
  • Korean Air and Delta report that the new process reduces connection times by roughly 20 minutes for transpacific travelers.
  • Incheon International Airport becomes the third global gateway deploying IRBS for U.S.-bound flights, following Sydney and London Heathrow.
  • South Korea’s transport ministry says it will work with U.S. counterparts to extend the remote screening program to additional routes.
