Overview

  • HD Hyundai hosted the Korea–U.S. Shipbuilding Leaders Forum on June 24 at its Global R&D Center in Pangyo.
  • A new MOU among Seoul National University, San Diego State University and HD Hyundai will bring 20 to 30 U.S. students and faculty to Korea for short-term shipbuilding training starting in 2026.
  • Forum participants mapped out joint research themes centered on Smart Yard technologies to drive digital transformation in shipbuilding.
  • On June 23, U.S. delegates toured HD Hyundai Heavy IndustriesUlsan shipyards and reviewed smart shipyard and autonomous navigation initiatives.
  • The second Korea–U.S. Shipbuilding Leaders Forum is scheduled for October 2025 in the United States to advance the maritime alliance.
