South Holland Offers $10,000 Reward in Killing of 16-Year-Old Student-Athlete

The reward is intended to drive credible tips to help investigators identify those responsible.

Overview

  • The Village of South Holland has partnered with Father Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina Church to offer $10,000 for information leading to an arrest in the fatal shooting of Davell Holden.
  • Holden, a 16-year-old rising junior and star basketball player at Thornwood High School, was found with multiple gunshot wounds near 160th Place and Drexel Avenue and pronounced dead at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital.
  • Investigators from the South Holland Police Department and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force have not identified any suspects or motives in the case.
  • Family members, classmates and community leaders held a vigil and balloon release on Wednesday night to honor Holden’s life and call for justice.
