South Dakota Tribes Unanimously Ban Gov. Kristi Noem

All nine indigenous tribes in South Dakota have barred Governor Kristi Noem from their lands following her controversial remarks about Native communities.

The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe was the last to ban Noem after an emergency meeting and subsequent discussions with her office.
Noem's comments accusing tribal leaders of benefiting from drug cartels sparked the bans, starting with the Oglala Sioux Tribe in February.
Tribal leaders have demanded an apology from Noem, which she has yet to issue.
Noem has not softened her stance and continues to emphasize border security and the presence of cartels on reservations.
The bans collectively prohibit Noem from 20% of South Dakota's land, significantly impacting her political standing.
