South Central Railway Rolls Out QR-Coded Jackets to Boost UTS Ticketing for Festival Rush

Staff in retro-reflective gear direct travelers to scan codes for app purchases to shorten queues during Dussehra and Diwali.

Overview

  • The rollout covers major stations across all six SCR divisions, including Secunderabad, Kacheguda, Vijayawada, Guntur, Guntakal, Tirupati, and Nanded.
  • Personnel are stationed at concourses, entry and exit points, and near ticket counters to help passengers use mobile ticketing.
  • Passengers can scan the jackets’ codes to open the UTS or Rail One apps and purchase unreserved tickets without standing in line.
  • UTS also enables booking of platform and season tickets, with purchases permitted only when at least 5 meters from station premises or tracks.
  • Payments are supported via R-Wallet, Paytm, UPI, and internet banking, with a 3% bonus for R-Wallet users to encourage digital transactions.
