South Carolina Keeps Latson Day-to-Day, Lists Tournebize Out vs. Georgia as Bench Delivers

Dawn Staley is leaning on reserves to carry scoring during Ta'Niya Latson's recovery.

Overview

  • Latson remains day to day after a Dec. 28 left ankle sprain, was off the SEC injury report as of Jan. 10, and practiced with the starters on Jan. 9, though her status for Georgia was not confirmed.
  • Alicia Tournebize, a 6-foot-7 freshman from France who arrived Jan. 1 and began practicing, was listed as out for Georgia on the SEC report.
  • With Latson sidelined, Agot Makeer started and posted 10 points and 10 rebounds at Arkansas, while Maddy McDaniel led the team with six assists in the 93-58 win.
  • Staley said the bench has developed in recent weeks and stressed she will not rush Tournebize, noting she wants to ease the newcomer into game action.
  • The No. 3 Gamecocks are 16-1 and 3-0 in the SEC, host Georgia today, and face No. 2 Texas on Jan. 15.
