South Boston Man Charged After Fatal Stabbing in Cambridge Apartment

Authorities say the stabbing followed an altercation inside a Norfolk Street apartment between people believed to know each other.

  • Responders found a male with serious stab wounds who was taken to a hospital, where he died.
  • Cambridge and MIT police located Victor Rivas, 51, nearby and arrested him.
  • Rivas faces a count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and is due for arraignment Friday in Cambridge District Court.
  • The Middlesex District Attorney’s office says both parties were injured during the altercation, and a joint investigation by CPD detectives, Massachusetts State Police and prosecutors continues with officials calling the case isolated.
