South Africa Cuts Petrol by 51c and Diesel by up to 21c as November Fuel Prices Take Effect

Falling international product prices with a firmer rand drove the reductions.

Overview

  • DMRE confirmed both 93- and 95-octane petrol drop by 51c per litre, with diesel reduced by 21c/l for 0.05% sulphur and 19c/l for 0.005% sulphur.
  • New inland pump prices set 93 at R20.97/l and 95 at R21.12/l, with coastal prices at R20.18 and R20.29 respectively.
  • The adjustments become effective overnight into Wednesday, with reports differing between midnight on 4 November and 5 November implementation.
  • LPG declines by 61c/kg nationwide and by 77c/kg in the Western Cape under the MRGP framework linked to Saldanha Bay imports.
  • The slate levy remains at 0c/l as the slate shows a positive R3.74bn balance, and future changes will depend on oil-market moves and the rand.
