Overview
- Digital Extremes confirmed on Friday that Soulframe’s Open Preludes will be available to all PC players on 6 November 2026 and must be downloaded from the game’s own client rather than Steam.
- Update 17, Verse of the Veilands, adds Ode Syphons that spread corruption across regions and a votive-based cleansing system that requires players to complete region-specific objectives to restore each area.
- The update introduces rideable Omen wolf mounts and a new trap-focused Pact whose kit includes spinning bolas, spike attacks and enemy-lifting balloon darts, though outlets differ on the Pact’s name (reported as Ode Shrike or Ode Strike).
- Studio leads said they are nervous about making the world feel harsher because the change is meant to give clearer onboarding and direction to players who previously finished opening story quests and then lost their way.
- Digital Extremes will keep its paid Founders program, plans to continue smaller closed previews alongside the open alpha, and is considering a character-reset option so returning testers can try new content.
