Daniel Cameron, the target of the ad, has criticized the ad as 'racist and hateful,' condemning the Democratic Party and left-wing interest groups for attacking him based on his skin color instead of his policies.
Despite criticisms, Cliff Albright, director of the Black Voters Matter PAC, defended the ad in an interview on YouTube, denying they called Cameron an 'Uncle Tom' and emphasizing Cameron's policies are 'against' the black community.
Kentucky's Democratic governor, Andy Beshear, who is running against Cameron and who the ad endorses, has been criticized for declining to comment on the alleged racism in the ad, instead suggesting that the African American-led PAC should address it themselves.
The Black Voters Matter Action PAC has a history of significant financial backing from Democratic megadonor George Soros, having received at least $2 million between 2020 and 2022 from Soros' Democracy PACs.
