Overview
- Fundación Bancaja opens “Sorolla. Obras maestras del Museo Sorolla,” presenting 60 works in Valencia from 3 October 2025 to 8 February 2026.
- Fifty‑nine pieces arrive on exceptional loan from the museum’s permanent collection in Madrid, with many shown in Valencia for the first time.
- Curated by Museo Sorolla director Enrique Varela, the exhibition follows a chronological and thematic arc across training years, portraits, seascapes, gardens and Spain’s interior.
- Signature canvases including El baño del caballo, Paseo a la orilla del mar, La siesta and La bata rosa are displayed alongside Fundación Bancaja’s Triste herencia.
- Separately, the Generalitat Valenciana has tendered works to adapt the Palacio de las Comunicaciones for a larger Hispanic Society loan, with an initial €1.95 million contract and a €17.33 million estimated budget.
