Romanian Sorana Cirstea of Romania claimed her first WTA title in more than four years with a victory in the hardcourt tournament in Cleveland, Ohio

  • Ranked No. 112, Cirstea claimed her third career WTA title and first since Istanbul in 2021.
  • Her path included upsetting top seed Liudmila Samsonova and defeating Anastasia Zakharova 6-1, 7-5 in the semifinals.
  • Li reached the final by edging No. 2 seed Xinyu Wang 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 and had three consecutive three-set wins this week.
  • In the final, Cirstea broke Li three times, saved all three break points she faced, and closed the match on her fifth championship point after 1 hour 24 minutes.
